New York

The City That Never Sleeps. There is something about New York that has always fascinated me. The subway. The cabs. The noise. And, unfortunately… The smells. New York is loud. New York is smelly. And if you aren’t paying attention, you are probably going to get run over by someone who has somewhere to be. But that’s New York.

Walk tall. Walk fast. And talk faster.

New Yorkers have a reputation for being rude, impatient, and abrasive. But honestly? I think they just appreciate directness. Don’t beat around the bush. Don’t spend five minutes explaining something that could be said in thirty seconds. They don’t have the time. But tell them exactly what you need, where you’re going, or what you’re looking for? They’ll usually appreciate it. And once you understand that, the city starts to make a little more sense.

New York isn’t necessarily trying to be rude. It’s busy. Everyone has somewhere to go, something to do, and about seventeen things happening at the same time. So don’t take the speed personally.

Keep up.

And if you can’t? Step to the side. Because someone behind you absolutely can. New York may overwhelm you at first. But give it a chance. Walk its streets. Take the subway. Get slightly lost. Eat something you can’t pronounce. Listen to the horns. And let the city happen around you.

Because underneath all the noise, chaos, smells, and people rushing past…

There is a reason people fall in love with New York.
